For a boy - John William (John - brother & grandfathers name - William  - fathers name) I think we would probably go with the nn Jack. ALthough, when he is born maybe we'd change our mind and  stick with John/Johnny.

for a girl - Ella - after my great--great grandmother (Laura Ella) My great grandmother was (Laura Marie) and I was named after her.

We aren't set on a middle name though.

these three would be family names.

Ella Marie  - Marie - is my mn but imo it's kinda just a filler.  

Ella Cate/Kate - My mother in law is Kathleen : My husband doesn't really care for Kate though.

Ella Suzanne - My mom is Susan

These two I just like.

Hopefully, we're havig a boy so we won't have to worry about names - we're pretty set on John William.

John William is a good name! Strong and classic.

For a girl, I love Ella Catherine or Ella Caroline.

John William is a great name! And while I like the NN Jack, it IS really common as a FN on its own right now---as well as a NN for the incredibly popular Jackson. I'd just call him John. It's less common (ironically).

Ella is lovely. I like Ella Kate (though if YH doesn't, you shouldn't use it) and Ella Caroline.

I Love the name John. It is very under used.
