We just got a copy of our medical records sent to us and a new clinic.
Just as I think things couldn't get worse with our experience with our clinic-our second S/A showed 200,000 with 11% motility! So, realistically, we had about 22,000 motile sperm, right? I thought we had 11% morphology-an 1-2% motile. And right there in our records it says- "11% motility".
So why did we need TESE to do our ICSI???????? I thought it was because we had no motile sperm? So what the heck went wrong?
I have a second opinion scheduled for November 2nd-hopefully they will explain what the heck is going on. Because right now nothing is making sense.........
Re: S/A question.......
Hum thats in line w my DH's 1st SA. 100,000 sperm 13 percent motility.
Our protocol obviously called for ICSI. DH also cane in and froze a 2nd sample (it was a bit better than his 1st).
Our plan was fresh sample 1st, frozen as back up, tese as last resort. They were able to get enough in the fresh sample (they only needed 11 good ones). So tese was avoided.
I would think ur DH would have been fine (w the numbers above) to ICSI w a fresh sample.
I'm not familiar with tese, but it sounds like a 2nd opinion is a great idea.
None of it is easy, is it?
What I think happened was they only used the fresh sample-because my nurse told me they had 10 from him "sample" and they only ICSI'd 10-when I had 13 mature follicles. And even though Uro said there was enough to freeze-there was no frozen sample and no one can tell us why it wasn't frozen......
It's sketchy-really sketchy!
DH had major surgery w/o general anesthesia and we had to pay $3500 for it. We still are waiting for DH's medical records-maybe they will have some more info.
What a mess.......
Yeah that does sound more than "a bit odd". You would think they would want to avoid a TESE, if they could.
They also told us TESE was necessary less than 48 hours before my ER. When his last S/A was 2 months before the ER......
It was a mess.
He must have been so upset! They told us, that TESE was a possiblity 2 months in advance. But they would do their best to avoid it.
I hope you get some answers at your second opinion!

"If dandelions were hard to grow, they would be most welcome on any lawn."
Our whole cycle was a disaster. And the clinic is the biggest in our area. I often wonder how the stress of our cycle (especially the two days before ER) impacted our success in the cycle. The stress was out of control-we almost canceled it-but felt we were already in so far, how could we stop?
