NIFR: Since you ladies seem to have answers for everything! :)

we just put down laminate flooring and I am having a hard time finding the *perfect* thing to keep them clean (I'm used to gross carpet that hides all dirt and dog slobber).  I thought I could use the Shark steam cleaner - but apparently not.  My Dyson vacuum doesn't seem to suck up all the dirt and dust, the broom doesn't get it all either, and then when I use the terry cloth mop and cleaning solution there is always a line of dust after a few passes - and I don't feel like it is cleaning it very well either... anyone have hardwood/laminate and found something that really works well?!

Re: NIFR: Since you ladies seem to have answers for everything! :)

  • I am really weird about my laminate wood flooring so I take a lot of steps to clean my mine.  I sweep first with one of those nylon fiber brooms, not the straw kind, then I swiffer with a dry cloth.  Usually that cleans them up really well but if they have spots on them from dogs or food or whatever I then use then product called Bruce.  It's a spray you put directly on the floor then you use this cloth mop pad thing that comes with it to mop the floor. I got Bruce at Lowes.

If i am feeling really anal about my floors and want them super shiny and clean then I get the Pledge wipes, put them on my swiffer and use those on my floor.

  • We have hard wood so slightly different. But I use the same techniques as pp. Swiffers are the best. And I love the wetjet mop. It gets everything up and leaves the floor shiny.
