Convertible Car Seat Q- if you have 2

Did you get a cheaper/just as functional seat for the car you use less frequently?

We use my car the most; however DH still uses his some with baby- daycare pickup, around town.  Also at some point DH will have another car that we may take more frequently and I envision we'll want additional children- so I just don't know if I should get two comparable car seats?

  • We most definitely got the cheaper one for DH's car. She's in it probably five minutes a day on the way to DC. It also came in a plastic bag that's perfect for travel.

  • We were going to get a cheaper one for DH's truck, but then we got a great deal on another Britax that we couldn't turn down. I think the cheaper car seat would have worked out just as well, but it was just easier to get something we were both used to...
  • We have a Cosco Scenera for our secondary car seat, and I honestly have no issues with it. We change cars and move seats a lot, so he will often take longer car rides in the cheaper seat. He is just as comfortable and its still easy to use. I think I paid less than $40 for it with a sale + coupon.

  • We have two and they're both the Evenflo Triumph Advance.  We use both cars about the same amount so it was worth it to get our first choice for both cars.

  • We have a Britax Advocate for my car,and a Britax Boulevard for DH's car. We use my car a lot more, but DH does do DC dropoff and occasionally drs appointments, etc...my thoughts were that an accident can happen in either car, so I felt better with him in our top choice carseat. We did go a step down for the second car b/c we got a great deal on it.  We also plan on having a second baby so I knew the carseats would get a lot of use.

A cheaper seat does not mean it is not as safe, it has less bells & whistles but all car seats pass the same safety standards. A $300 car seat will protect your child just as much as a $40 seat.

Not saying that it isn't.  I just meant that there were features in the seat I chose that I wanted (side impact protection, etc), so it didn't make sense for me to buy one with and one without since the features I chose were very important to me. That being said, we got a very good deal on our 2nd Britax. If we had to pay what we did for the first one we would probably have looked for the least $ seat that still had the features we wanted.
