I'm trying to talk myself out of buying my son another pair of shoes. I've been buying 2-3 pairs per size. 1 pair of tennis shoes/casual shoes for daycare, one pair for weekends, and 1 pair of sandals. For the fall, I bought 1 pair of daycare shoes and 1 pair of non daycare shoes.
I'm curious how many pairs everyone else is buying. He's growing out of his 7.5's, so I'm hoping that he'll be wearing his 8's and 9's for quite a while now that he's almost 2.
And, how much do you normally spend on each pair? I aim for around $10 for daycare shoes, no more than $30 for non daycare shoes. I'm debating if I should buy higher quality shoes for daycare as well.
Re: How many pairs of shoes does your toddler have in each size?
Uh---- not sure I should answer this!
1 pair of tennis shoes- mostly work at MDO
2 pairs of Converse
2 pairs of boots, one pink, one brown, Ugg style
1 pair of brown Mary Janes
1 pair of black Mary Janes
1 pair of Christmas shoes
I buy most of them at consignment though. The only ones we paid full price for were the brown Mary Janes, See Kai Run $40, and the brown ugg style boots, $30, and the Converse, about $20 each.
I have to say though, each brand runs different. I am not even sure she will fit in the Converse at all this year, even though they are all the same sizes.
Always 2 sneakers and maybe a pair of sandals in the summer or sometimes a 3rd pair of play sneakers. Last week I bought the exact same sneakers in size 8 as I did in size 7. A brown/khaki pair and a black pair. I loved them, they wore well and matched everything. I get most of his shoes at Famous Footwear during the Buy 1 Get 1 1/2 off sale so usually $15-35/pair. If I find a cheap pair of sneaks that aren't the "prettiest", they become the play sneakers and the "nice" ones last longer.
I guess I don't understand what daycare and non-daycare shoes are, especially for boys. Our daycare requires all kids to wear sneakers because they play outside a lot; even inside its a lot of playing and they should be wearing good shoes. I understand with girls because they have different shoes than boys but don't boys just wear sneakers, unless its warm out (sandals)? I would invest in 2-3 good pairs of sneakers, its best for his feet.
Right now, DD1 has a pair of size 9 sneakers, and she still fits into her summer sandals.
We spent around $25 a pair, I think.
I need to get her dress shoes and snow boots, and I also want to get her a pair of regular boots. So hopefully she'll have four pairs of shoes to get her through the winter.
I'll try not to spend much (hopefully $15 or less) on the snow boots and dress shoes b/c she won't wear them often. A little more on a decent pair of boots that she can trade off her sneakers with for everyday wear.

For the fall/winter, we do one pair of sneakers, one pair of mary janes for dressier occasions and one pair of boots. In the summer, we do a pair of Keen sandals because they pretty much go anywhere.
We spend about $50 for shoes because shoes are important for developing feet.
We tend to always have 3 pairs.
ETA: oops wasn't done: The most I've paid is $12 for sneakers at Walmart. I am extremely frugal when it comes to kid's clothes.
Thanks all! DH thinks DS needs about 6 pairs (yikes!), so maybe we'll compromise on 3.
I hadn't even thought about snow boots, but he's going to need some of those as well.
I'm cheap. lol I wont spend more than $20 on any of DD's shoes. Right now she has a drawer full of shoes, but not all of them fit her even though they are all 7's.
I just bought her a pair of brown (mary jane style) sneakers, a pair of black nicer ballet flat looking shoes, and a pair of white ballet flat looking shoes (which she just wore in a wedding). She has a blue pair of crocs and a purple pair of knockoff crocs which were hand me downs, and a pink pair of sneakers (which are huge on her so i'm holding on to them for later. My mom bought them for my niece, but the tag was mismarked and they were too small.)
I don't think the amount of shoes that you have is an unreasonable amount.
