Ovulate before trigger

I am currently doing an iui cycle with gonal f.  I am on CD15 and had an u/s yesterday that showed one follicle at 16 and another at 11.  My estrogen is at 244.  I will be doing the trigger shot tonight with the iui scheduled on monday.

Last night and this morning i am noticing a lot of discharge.  I am afraid that i am ovulating on my own.  Is this possible?  I feel like if i was ovulating on my own they would have noticed this yesterday in my blood work and had me trigger last night with iui on sunday, right?  just hoping that my trigger shot induces ovulation and i am not doing it on my own.

thoughts?

  • Hi!  I bet you are just fine!  The shots can make you have more discharge at different points of your cycle.  It sounds like your one follie needed another day to grow :-).

  • I agree with PP.  Your 16mm is still not mature so I wouldn't think you would be ovulating.  You can feel more with the drugs and I definitely had more discharge and never ovulated early.

  • That actually did happen to me. My first cycle. I went in on cd12 and my follicle was already big (I forget the size). My RE told me to trigger 36 hours later and then go in for my IUI 36 hours after that. I actually ovulated before I even took the shot because my follicle was so big and once they get to a certain size they release on their own (I think). Personally, I think the reason why he made me wait so long to trigger was so he wouldn't have to come in on a Sunday and do the IUI. I switched dr's after that. BUT my follicle was really big and yours still have some catching up to do so I think you're fine Good luck!!
