Both my OB and Pedi told me that Dreft is a rip off. They said that All Free/Clear or Tide Free is just as good. Also, my OB says that you don't need to use as much as they say- about half 2/3 reccommend amount is plenty. I only used the Tide Free for a couple months and then when I realized he didn't have very sensitive skin, we just went back to regular Tide.
I use Tide Free and Gentle. That and the Dreft are the only detergents my local supermarket carrys for HE washers. I smelled the Dreft and thought it had too strong of a perfume smell. The Tide barely smells which is something that's important to me
Thanks!! I LOVE scented detergents but realize I can't use them with the baby haha. I had no idea there was Tide Free and Clear, I guess I have a long way to go.
We've used All Free and Clear for years and that's what we use on the baby's clothes. Although we just started to use Planet on our cloth diapers, so will likely switch to that for all our clothes.
I agree with all the other PP. Dreft is not good because it has too much fragrance (synthetic) in it, it just has good marketing to make people think they need it when they really don't. I fell in to their trap ONE time but I will never buy that detergent again! Free & clear of pretty much any brand is better than Dreft!
My favorite is Ecos detergent (magnolia and lily scent, made from
essential oils instead of synthetic fragrance) and Ecover fabric softner(sunny day
scent, plant based and made with essential oil rather than synthetics) It works great and smells so fresh!
Also, you can use less than what it says on the packaging with almost all detergents. The lines on the caps can trick you in to pouring more than you need. Read the instructions and follow what it says. It will save you money!
I use All Free and Clear on the whole family's wash. I work full time and have 2 boys and a girl on the way. I dont' have extra time to seperate baby clothes just to use a specal detergent on them.
