I have probably 8 different sippy's. Some with a soft nipple, some with a regular sippy spout, one with a straw etc. DS just does not want to drink out of them though. He likes to chomp on the spout and in turn the milk dribbles out.
Do I just not stick to the times of bottles and let him figure it out when he's hungry enough? Is there a magical sippy I haven't tried?
I do NOT want him to be on a bottle much longer (he's almost a year). I know it gets increasingly more difficult as time goes on. Suggestions? Thanks.
Re: Help w/ transitioning from bottle to sippy
My ds had a hard time transitioning to the sippy cup. At first he wasn't interested and he just couldn't get the hang of it. I would give him the bottle in the morning and at night, but the rest of the time I just kept introducing the sippy. I would leave it next to him when he was playing or on his highchair tray. After a few months of exploring it, he finally got the hang of how to do it and was off the bottle.
My DD didn't get it 'til about 13.5 months and that was only because I cut out a nursing session to make her thirstier.
What ended up working was those tupperware-ish cups with a spout (I think First Year's makes some) and no valve. . . and that was after I cut from 3 to 2 nursing sessions.
I'm not sure if I'm much help because DS's nursed and only took a bottle once a week. The playtex hard top ones work best for us, I like them because they don't leak and I think DS was used to sucking harder. He would end up with a mouth full of milk with the soft ones.
