Who would've thought that naming your kid was so hard. DH and I thought we were set on naming our baby Silas Nathaniel, but just recently we were discussing maybe naming him Sebastian Liam. Sebastian has always been my favorite boy's name but Silas has a special meaning for both of us (even though my parents hate the name). We agreed to wait until we meet the baby and see which name fits him better. We love the fact that they're not really common names. Which one do you like better or would you use?
Re: Silas or Sebastian?
I'll love you forever,
I'll like you for always,
As long as I'm living my baby you'll be.

This. I love Sebastian Liam.
I think Sebastian is one of the worst names - EVER! (sorry, just a bad association)
I love Silas!!
This. I don't get the obsession with Sebastian.
It reminds me of Sebastian the crab from The Little Mermaid lol.
I'd constantly be picturing my baby coming out with a Jamaican accent. "Under da sea. Darling it's betta down where it's wetta take it from me!" LOL

I like both a lot, and while I love Sebastian, a part of me questions how much a boy would.
Silas is easier to spell and pronounce; it's simple and no-nonsense. I think a boy (and eventually a man) would appreciate the cool, streamlined aspects of Silas over the off-beat flourishes of Sebastian. But that's JMO.
Exactly this.

This, exactly. I do love Liam, though.
Silas Nathaniel is a very good, strong name and I love it. Please go with your first pick!
I must be in the minority... I don't automatically think of Sebastian the crab when I hear the name... must be because I know a few Sebastians so I just think of them. On the other hand, when I hear Silas I think of the weird Albino guy in Da Vinci Code beating himself.
Oh good point. I didn't think of him at all but now that you mention it he was super creepy.
I also don't think of Sebastian the crab but thats probably because of my nephew. It is however a running joke in their house. He has a pretty big Sebastian stuffed toy. But that aside, he isn't made fun of because of his name for that movie. It did come out when we were all kids and sure its a classic but I don't think little kids put two and two together. People always compliment my sister on the name when they hear it.
