DH texted me this morning that he likes the name Amelia..I have no idea where he even heard it because it was during his ride to work so maybe on the radio?? Anyway, I think I remember seeing that it's a fave on this board, but I'm just not sure how I feel about it. What do you all think? Why do you/don't you like it?? I think I might like Delia over Amelia (but I'm not 100% I actually like either one of them lol) Thanks girls!

Re: Feelings on Amelia?
I love it! It was on our short list had this baby been another girl.
I love it!
Don't like Delia though.

I do like the nn Mia..but I just don't know! I'm going to give it a few days before I rule it out because I didn't like our current top choice Claire at first either, but it grew on me. Maybe its the way that I pronounce it? I pronounce it like "Uh-MEAL-yuh" (IDK maybe some people say "Uh-MEAL-lee-uh" which I think sounds a little softer, but just with my dialect that's not how it comes out.

I pronounce it Ah-meal-ee-ya

Funny you mention Claire. The full name we were tossing around was Amelia Claire!
I agree with others that Amelia is a zillion times better with Delia. Amelia has a classy older feel. All I think with Delia is the cheap tween clothing store.

I agree that Amalia sounds much prettier than Amelia!

This is one of my absolute favorite names. In fact, if DH would go along with it, it's what our first daughter would be named. He had a pet rabbit once named Emilia, so he feels it's too similar. But anyway, I love Amelia, I think it's really sweet.
Delia isn't bad either, although I prefer it as a nn for something like Cordelia.
I love this name. My daughter's name is actually tied to it. The sound, the meaning, the letters...it all works for me. We strongly considered it. And Amelia Earhart is pretty kick @$$.
ETA: regarding Amalia, while it is the original, I could never get past the MAL, which in French, means evil/sick/wrong, so now that's all I think of

I love Amelia. If I'd ever have another baby girl, that's the name I'd fight for.
Delia -- Delia Deetz from Beetlejuice springs to mind. LOL!
Excellent reference! I also think of Delia Ephron....from the famous Ephron sisters (Sleepless in Seattle to name one movie)
