We went with them for our baby shower and DS's baptism, and all my birthday cakes growing up. They are so good, but sometimes their decorating is not the best. If I don't sit there and draw out exactly what I want, they tend to mess it up. But when I take the extra time, it comes out fine. I miss their cakes now that I'm in NC. Here, I have to go to a super fancy bakery or bake it myself in order to get anything edible.
I got a cake for a baby shower from there a few months ago. They have a book of designs and wouldn't do anything other than those particular designs. I wanted to match some napkins and she said that too many people complained that their cake didn't turn out exactly how they wanted and got a free cake because of it, so they don't do custom designs anymore.

Re: Has anyone ordered a birthday cake from Publix?
I'm not sure if they can do that shape, but their cakes are fabulous! Seriously, I've never tasted a better cake from a chain grocery store.
I'd give them a call and ask.
I have family members who would rather not have a birthday cake unless it's from Publix! (That may or may not include me:)
