Bed rest update

I haven't checked in in a few days so I figured I would...

Things are going well here... I haven't had any contractions, cramping, or irritibility in 4 days, so the doctors are thrilled.  I'm only on an oral medicine, which is surprising them because normally patients end up on a terbutaline pump.  The doctors say if my cervical scan this weekend goes well, I can go home on pretty much strict bed rest (only allowed up to use the bathroom and shower).  I'm very excited about the prospect of this, but I know if things don't go well, staying in here is in Ella's best interest.  I obviously am not going to take any chances - I want this little one to be strong.

Being in here has given me a lot of time to reflect and be very thankful that she's been able to stay in an additional 2 weeks... that's a huge accomplishment for her (and me!).  Only a week and a half more until she's at 28 weeks and I've hit the first goal that the NICU doctor set for me...

Thanks for letting me update you! :)

  • Glad to hear you're both hanging in there!
  • Hope your scan goes well so you can go home and be more comfortable.  Every day she stays in, she gets that much stronger.  I hope things continue to improve for you.  Good luck with your scan.
I give up trying to get a ticker.  I have a DD that is 2.5 years old and is awesome.  Maybe I'll add a quote to distinguish myself.  Hmmm.  How about...

  • I am so glad to hear that you and Ella are doing well.  28 weeks is a huge accomplishment and I am praying that you'll make it there and beyond!

  • Glad to hear you are doing well. I am sure that you are going crazy in the hospital, but it sounds like you have a very positive outlook on the whole thing which is awesome! Hang in there and good luck!

  • Thanks for the update, and like PP said - your positive attitude is going to make Ella that much stronger!
  • That is so wonderful to hear I really hope she stays in for as long as possible.
  • Yeah! So glad to hear the great news labor buddy! I have been thinking of you! Like you said, each day longer little Ella gets stronger and stronger! Will your husband get to come home anytime soon? (I think he's deployed?)
  • That's really good news! Bed rest is annoying, but it sounds like you're taking it in stride and it's helping!

Here's hoping for some more good news on the weekend!

  • Thanks, ladies!  I'm really excited to possibly get out of here.  Part of me even wants to stay until at least 28 weeks when I know her odds are a lot better.  One of the nurses just showed me what a 28 week baby looks like and it's so tiny!  But it's reassuring to know that her odds are a lot better at that point!

    I'll keep you posted!
