Toddlers: 24 Months+

What combination of blankets is on your toddler's bed?

We're getting ready to transition DS to a twin bed and I'm wondering what I should put on it, blanket wise.  I really don't imagine he'll sleep 'properly' in the bed as he is currently all over his crib, so I'm not sure putting blankets on his bed even makes sense.  I was thinking of putting a flat sheet on and a nice fuzzy microfleece type blanket on top.  I got a great comforter for his bed but I think that might be overkill for the beginning.  Should I save that for when he gets the hang of sleeping in a big boy bed?  Any other tips?

TIA!

  • My son has his comforter and a flat sheet. He also likes to sleep with his favorite blankie.

  • DS was all over his crib and still is in the PnP when we travel. But he actually stays the "right" way in his bed. He has two pillows at the top so that might be it. He has a top sheet and quilt, plus his blankie. He usually keeps the top sheet on but not really the quilt unless it's cold.
  • we have a flat sheet and a heavy quilt.  until last night he has used them like you should.  Last night was weird.  He some how got them all twisted up and knotted around him and got stuck.  It took me 5 min to get him free.  Poor kid.  He has been in the bed for months so I think he was just restless last night.

  • When we switched DS to a bed it was summer so I kept him with his baby blanket that never really stayed on anyways, but now that its cooled off he has a down duvet and it is pretty heavy and stays on. Since we gave him that he sleeps 2 hours longer in the morning!
  • We have a flat sheet and a regular twin comforter.
