Convertible Car Seats

Kailani is 27" and 17.5 lbs at 5 mos old. Never in a million years did I think she would grow so fast. That being said she will soon outgrow her infant car  seat. I am looking at convertible car seats now and considering a Britax Boulevard. But we have a 2006 Camry. I'm curious as to what you all are using for your LO's and what type of car you drive.

Re: Convertible Car Seats

  • combi cocorro in my jetta

first years true fit in DH's mountaineer (SUV)

after lots of research I'm pretty sure the Combi Cocorro is the only seat that will fit in the middle seat of my jetta.

  • We have the Britax Roundabout 55 and I drive a chevy cobalt.

  • We have an Alpha Omega one and it's huge, so I wouldn't recommend it for your Camry cuz it barely fits in our SUV. But I totally had my eye on the Britax Roundabout and I know lots of the ladies here have it.

  • We have a Britax Marathon in our Camry and it's pretty big. They just came out with a newer model of Marathon, which I've read might even be bigger (to accommodate taller kids?). We also have a second Marathon in my mom's 4-Runner. It might be a problem if we had multiple children, but with only one, it works and I feel comfortable having him in something so safe.

  • I drive a sentra and we have a roundabout 50 in there. We had the marathon in there for a while and it fits okay. Hubby has a marathon in his tacoma and it's pretty spacious. When looking at the new marathon 70 and roundabout 55 they seam bigger and i think would take up alot more space.
  • I drive a Honda Civic and we have a Britax Marathon. It's a pretty big seat. My concern is that we'll eventually have 3 in car seats (if all works out as planned) so we'll have to sell my car because only 2 seats will fit in there... If I would have thought more about it, we POSSIBLY could have had 3 seats in there if we would have purchased the sunshine kids Radian seat. It's ratings are just as high as the Britax seats but the seats are slimmer.

Bella outgrew the height on her seat long before the weight (she could still fit in an infant seat based on weight!). She's always been in the 80% for height. The britax and sunshine kids seats are great for tall kids.

If you go to BRU, they'll let you take the display seat out to your vehicle (with one of their staff with you) so you can buckle it in and be sure it works. We did that and the britax ONLY fits in the center if it's reclined back even a little bit, otherwise the passenger will be kissing the dashboard :) That said, when #2 gets here, Bella's seat will move to the passenger side and the baby will have to be behind me.
  • I drive a Toyota Camry and have a Britax Marathon and the Boulevard in my car.
  • i'm trying to figure this out right now too, though DH thinks it will be a while before she gets taller than 30"

we have the older roundabout 50 in my parents' car, got it when it was on clearance at target for $50 :) i do like it better than the cosco scenera that we have in the IL's car but you would expect that given the price difference between the two! the roundabout has more padding and the anti-twist straps are a nice feature too.  we'll probably get a britax for our own car but don't know if it will be a roundabout, marathon, boulevard, frontier, etc. yet
