A coworker of mine got a shower invite from my hostess (we are friends outside of work) and had to RSVP no due to prior plans.  No problemo.  She let me know yesterday that she felt awful for not being able to make it, but was sending a gift from my amazon registry.  I assured her that I understood and would wait to open her gift at the shower.  She was delighted.

The gift showed up today.  I feel sort of silly "waiting" to open it.  I sort of assumed that it would be boxed, like every other item I've gotten from amazon.

We just had our walker delivered to our front door in the original packaging. When I sent DH a text to tell him our first gift arrived he asked me to wait to open it until he got home...ehhhh I wonder if he will believe me??

I've had it happen with diapers.  honestly, i'm all for it - I mean, I find the giant mostly-empty boxes really wasteful (you should see the box the RnP came in.  Holy Hannah.  It was at least a foot longer than the RnP itself and 3x as wide.).  I just wasn't expecting it to show up that way at my office ;p

BRU sent us our travel system in the Graco box with a big picture of it - no card saying who it was from.  Good thing we knew MIL bought it for us or else we would have never known who it was from.

Omg, I've never seen them do that before!  Granted, I usually buy books and dvds, but still.

BRU did that with our furniture set though.

Amazon at least slit open the packaging and stuffed in a packing slip.  Problem being that their printer was apparently on the fritz and cut off the front half of the sender's name and address. 

I know who it's from, because Amazon.com tracks that info for you online, but if I had to go by the packing slip I would only know that the sender's last name ends in "on" and they live somewhere in PA with a zip code of 19073.

BRU did that with our car seat and pack n play.  So much for a surprise!

We've had that happen.  Amazon will usually tell you that whatever you're getting will be sent in its original packaging, but you kind of have to be looking for it.  I'm sure most people don't realize that, though.

Nice This happened to me this yr on my birthday. I always get home from work before H & there was a package from Amazon on our porch, no cardboard outer box or anything, just the manufacturer box.

H was pretty po'd, what can ya do?! Too funny.

I never did an amazon registry before this one and once I got notice that the first item was purchased and it said "go to your thank you list" I had no idea it would tell me exactly who purchased the gift!

BRU did that with my travel system, and Walmart did it with the crib too!  The one I didn't understand was when Walmart sent the crib mattress it was in NO box.  It came shipped in a plastic bag that had small holes cut out in it???!!??? Seriously I was pretty PO'd because it had been raining and so the mattress had gotten slightly wet and dirty.  Luckily it can just be wiped down but still.

We have the FP booster and love it.

Yup, my crib mattress showed up exactly the same way from walmart.  Just a mattress in a plastic bag, with a label slapped on.  Luckily, I was home when it showed up and I could bring it right inside.

This happened with a highchair I ordered from Target for my friend's shower.  It came in the original box and was all beat up in the corners so I felt awful when I gave it to her wrapped... but she could tell it was shipped in the box.  I told her if it was damaged to return it and get a new one!  Maybe you can wrap it and "pretend" to open it at your shower lol!
