Time to sleep sitting up? :-(

Baby A is vertex on my right side, Baby B is breech on my left, and Baby C is transverse on the top-right. A&B occasionally poke out something (head? back? something hard.) on my sides - like, literally where you'd put your hands on either side of my waist. I can feel more kicks when I'm laying on a side, but this morning, I had my hand wedged between my side & the mattress, & it was getting pummeled by Baby A. I'm nervous that I'm squashing them between me/their sibs and the mattress. Am I being silly, or should I start sleeping in a sitting-up position?

Re: Time to sleep sitting up? :-(

  • If you're uncomfortable or going numb, then it's time to change positions.  Otherwise, nah.  I squished my two all the time, especially toward the end, because it was the only way I could sleep.  They crowd and beat on each other more than you do.  ;)
  • awww I think they are ok. I worry about that too but I think they have enough protection that theya re alright. If you get uncomfy then definitely sit up but I think theya re fine. Mine do the same thing but eventually seem to fall asleep so theya re fine. ;)

  • I feel this same way. Every night I toss and turn because when I lay on one side- I feel that baby kick, then I lay on the other side and I feel that baby kick. All I can think is that I am squishing them- because I'm laying right on them. So to say the least- I barely ever get any sleep! And when I go to sleep on my back- I sometimes have a little trouble breathing. You are not being silly... I wonder these same things. I know they are safe and protected in there-but it still bothers me! lol.  :)
  • hee hee, mine were situated the same way and miles (who was on my lower left) was always getting squished when i slept on that side. i felt bad for him too, but he turned out fine.

generally, for my own comfort, i slept kind of half on my back, half on my side. kind of just propped up a little so i wasn't flat on my back, and also sitting up a bit.

  • Whew. Luckily, the only times I'm uncomfy are when my hips (whichever side I'm on) start to hurt from allllllll the weight or when the baby I'm - you know - laying on top of pokes out of my side and makes it feel like I am laying on a boulder. I guess that's when he or she has had wnough of being squished. Stick out tongue
