Hi everyone,
I know there's plenty of posts asking for OB recommendations but I need an OB familiar with and supportive of natural labor and delivery. I had my first OB visit on Friday at a very highly recommended womens group through NW and it did not go well, I'll spare you all the details. Long story short, I told the doctor that I wanted a completely natural pregnancy, L&D. She looked at me like I had five heads and said less than 5% of her patients do that, leading me to believe she's not ok with it.
I was given a couple of recommendations, one to Dr. Song at The Associate for Women's Health but she doesn't see patients on my only day off. I also was referred to Dr. Lead Delfinado at Illinois Mesonic but haven't called yet.
Does anyone have any feedback on these docs or can you recommend anyone else who supports the natural, non-intervention, non-drug labor and deliveries??
Thanks in Advance!
Re: Need an OB ok with NATURAL L&D
Why don't you check out the CNM's at Northwestern Memorial Physican's Group? (NMPG) I think there are 6 CNM's and 8 OB's in the group now and I know from personal experience that the OB's and the midwives are all HIGHLY supportive of natural birth. I actually had a water birth with 2 of my 4 kids, attended by one of the OB's (although he's retired now and the rest of the OB's prefer not to actually "catch" the baby in the water. They do however allow you to labor in the water if you so choose...) and they definitely stick to doing things the "right" way; for instance they absolutely will not induce before 39wks without real medical necessity, they don't do that whole "oh, this baby looks big, you better get induced" thing that so many OB's do, etc. Anyway, hope this helps. It is a HUGE practice but they seem to be staying on top of things as far as staffing and I never have to wait long for my appts, never feel rushed, always feel like they know me (of course, this being my 6th pregnancy might have something to do with that! I'm sort of a "good customer"!)
Good Luck
