Another question, probably be asking a lot since for 19 cycles I have been pretty much ignorant and doing everything the old fashion way with only two cycles of clomid and no monitoring. Time to see RE this month so trying to suck all this in. And how do they know when to do the IUI if an egg is released 12-48 hours after a surge, could the IUI be to late? Sorry for the confusion. I'm really ignorant on this stuff. Thanks and bear with me.
Re: During IUI if you get a pos OPK do you still do a trigger shot?
They figure the ovulation starts 36-41 hours after the trigger. The ultrasounds they do to monitor everything tells them whats going on. For what its worth and TMI- when i went for the IUI yesterday at 38 hours past trigger, DR had me on table and used speculum and right away said perfect timing as you are ovulating. She could tell by looking and seeing the cervic change and postition. However I imagine the IUI could be too late also for some people. everyone is different. I dont know the medical answer, just explaining how i think i understand
Kristin
I've done 2 IUIs and there was no mention of testing with OPK. Just instructions to do the trigger. I really just left it in their hands as through research, I think they have a pretty good idea of timing. Perhaps that's where we went wrong...as both were unsuccessful
This is a great place to post questions...no need to apologize for having them!
