DS wets out of his diaper almost every time he sleeps (at night OR napping). We are using BG 3.0 and 4.0. We have put 3 inserts in, but nothing seems to work. He NEVER leaks when he is awake, so I don't know what the problem is. The leaks are mainly at the waist of his diaper... Could it be that it is because he is laying down? Do you think that maybe he is peeing straight up and out of his diaper? Do any of you have this problem??

I have had leaks, not daily but a few. I usually find that the diaper isn't tight around his waist and his PJs are touching the inside fabric. Or once in a while DH doesn't double check and the back is flipped over.

I would look into hemp inserts, they absorb more. And possibly strip your inserts.... I know if you use dryer sheets at all in the dryer and dry your inserts it can effect the absorbency of them.

This might seem like a silly question....but do you always make sure to point his penis down? If we don't then yet, he pees right out the top. I also had this problem when the rise was too short.....with all of those inserts bulking it up at night you may need to make the rise bigger.

My DS started peeing through BGs @ about 2 months. Fitteds work a lot better for us at night.

We use the BG 3 and the doubler with a hemp liner folded in thirds. At 6 months and almost 20lbs we have the diapers on the medium setting. I make sure that the hemp is further up in the front than the back when stuffing.

Same as the other make sure everything is pointed down. DS sleeps almost 12 hours with no leaks.

I was about to ask this SAME exact question! I use mostly BG and it ALWAYS happens at night. It's not that he fills up the diaper at all, it will be on him 20min and as long as he's laying down it comes out the top! Brand new diapers too so I know I don't need to strip them. I just bought 24 so let's hope we figure out a solution!

We have the same problems with our sized BGs. I am starting to use fitteds at night and so far we haven't had problems with those.

Make sure the waist is tight enough and the white microsuede inner should NOT be rolled out at all at the waist. When you are taking the leaky diaper off him check for that, when it is still on him you should only see the colored PUL at the waist, no white. My daycare provider was doing this for a while and he was constantly leaking at the waist.

Thanks ladies!!! I have tried making sure that everything is pointing down... now I'm wondering if the inserts are shoved up too high... I'll try that tonight!

If that doesn't work I'd try the hemp insert. I had leaky problems until I started using hemp for bedtime. I use BG 3.0s at night with a regular insert and a hemp doubler. It's been beautiful ever since

And he sleeps 12-13 hours and on his belly!
