chocolate cyst

hi all!  my RE found a chocolate cyst yesterday and i will be getting lap surgery at the end of the month, pending insurance approval.  i was wondering if anyone has had this.  does this mean i am in a very advanced stage of endo?  i'm worried that i'll be at too high a stage and he won't be able to remove it.  TIA!

My RE saw what he thought was a chocolate cyst behind my left ovary on my first U/S but he hasn't "mentioned" it or said anything about it since so...not sure...from what I've read online, they're not that uncommon and can be removed pretty easily...he basically called it "old blood" (gross I know). I wish I had more concrete answers for you on this...good luck with your lap!

I had a chocolate cyst-it was removed in a lap in January of 2010.  I was considered "stage 2" with the endometrioma!

I had one removed during my laparotomy last fall.   My doctor was able to  drain it without doing any damage to my ovary.  She described it as being filled with sludge.

I have had chocolate cyst as well but it wasn't removed during my lap. Good luck!

I went in for an ER and one of my "follicles" turned out to be a chocolate cyst.  My RE said he "cleaned teh area out" so I am hoping there were non left.  I don't know much about them so this thank you for the post.

thanks for sharing all your experiences!  i feel better knowing that you all went through the same thing.  i'm hoping this can be easily removed.  thanks!
