Cloth Diapering

Question for working moms...

I have been thinking about doing cloth diapers. When I tell people they say it will be too much with a full time job. How hard is it to cloth diaper and work full time?

Thanks

Re: Question for working moms...

  • I only work 3 days a week, but it really doesn't seem to be a big deal at all. It is one extra load of laundry every 2-3 days.
  • Its no big deal - I throw the laundry in while I'm doing something else (like making dinner), then get back to it when the cycle is done to throw it in the dryer.  The laundry is really the only aspect that is different than any other diaper and it can easily be accomplished in one night.

  • Really not a big deal at all. I was a load every other day after I get home while I am doing a bunch of other things. I  recommend having a few wet bags so you won't have to wash them daily. Also leave a few days of diapers at daycare so you are not lugging them home every afternoon.

Yes  The only difference I see between cloth and sposies is one load of laundry every 2-3 days.  Hasn't been an issue for me.

  • I work full time + (about 60 hours a week) and it has been no problem at all.  2 extra loads of laundry a week is nothing.  I make wet bags, so I have 7 in rotation.  I just leave the dirty diapers in the wetbags in a pile in the laundry room until laundry day (Mondays & Thursdays).  You CAN do it!
  • DH & I both work full time.  It's not hard whatsoever.  It's literally an extra load of laundry 3x/wk.  That's it.

  • Super easy. As someone said in another post on this topic a few weeks ago, "It's not like you have to take the diapers down to the river and beat them on rocks to wash them!" Admittedly, it's even easier for me because I work from home (which reminds me, I need to go pull the diapers out of the washer right now...) but even if you work outside the home, it's easy to do laundry at night.

  • Thanks ladies! I am going to give it a try:)
