We don't really have a routine - just kiss Daddy goodnight, go upstairs, change diaper/put on PJs, brush teeth/use potty (I suggest/encourage this, but I'm not going to fight this), then hugs, kisses, and DD gets in bed w/ teddys, blankies and binky. She rolls over and goes to sleep.
We do a bath every 3 days, but talk about it every day.
We used to do books, but frankly she's so tired these days, I don't really think she enjouys them.
we do: dinner anytime between 6 and 6:30, then some playing in the living room, if its bath night we hit the tub at 7 and on non-bath nights we just clean him with a warm washcloth and change into PJs, then some milk, a few books, brush teeth, then into his room with lights dimmed and sound machine on for a few minutes of hugs and cuddle time (and lately, another book or two because that is all he wants to do). tuck into bed, turn his seahorse on, say goodnight and he is out within minutes.
We do baths every other night, unless needed. Then we sit and read a few books, bottle, and then in the crib with a paci. He's always put himself to sleep. In the last month we've had some issues at nap times when he will cry, and I have gone in a few times, laid him back down, given him his paci, and rubbed his back for a few mintues until he calms down. He learned pretty quickly that we wont take him back out of the crib when we come back in and that issue cleared up pretty quickly.
We do bath every other night. We give fair warning (maybe 20+ min) for bedtime, asking if she's ready (that answer is almost always no) and telling her its almost time to read some stories. Around 8 we tell her its time and she gives kisses to whomever is not putting her to bed.
We turn on her fan and the light near the rocker and then read two stories. Turn off the light and I sing her a song about saying good night, we go through the family members and end with Emily. She usually points to her crib at this point and we put her in, cover her up and walk out of the room.
Sounds peachy - right?!?!?! It took a lot of work to get to this point and more then once has she recessed back to not wanting to go to sleep by herself. We have had a few nights of cio but its totally worth it when the routine gets back into gear.

Well she had one nap today and we kept her up a little late tonight and made sure to tire her out. She took her last bottle for the night and went straight into the crib without having to be rocked to sleep. Please keep your fingers crossed that she stays in there and doesn't wake up.
jnealet, glad to hear that it wasn't always so easy for you. I was afraid that I was doing something wrong. Hopefully, we can start up some kind of bedtime routine that will work for her and us without having to keep her up too late.
