Hello? Anybody here?

Hi!  I thought I would introduce myself, that is if anyone is here!  I currently live in Minneapolis but my DH just got a job in Douglas, Wy so we'll be moving out there in the next 6-8 weeks.  I've pretty much lived in a big city my whole life and I will admit, I am very nervous about moving to a small town.  I have a little boy and will be a SAHM after we move.  I hope I can meet some other mamas there!  I see that some of you are from Casper and Cheyenne which is some-what close.  I love the outdoors, camping, hiking, etc.  Oh, my DH and I got married in the Tetons 2 years ago.

Anyway, hopefully I can get to know some of you!

This board is very slow, but I know there are a few Wyoming people so maybe we can livin it up. I have never been to Douglas, but I live in Cheyenne and we love it. Except not having any friends or family around.

Hello! I just realized that Wyoming had a board! Well, I hope you have fun in Douglas.  You are right, it is a small town but has everything you need in it.  Also, Casper is not that far (a lot closer than Cheyenne!)  and it can really give you that big city "feel" you will crave coming from a big cities your whole life.   I hope your move goes smoothly if you haven't moved already and enjoy the weather here in good ol' Wyoming.  I live in Laramie so I can definitely say that we have been spoiled weather wise but winter is finally here!

But I don't think there's a Target there   We haven't moved yet.  My DH is in Douglas right now looking for a place to live and it's not looking like there are many options.  I might end up staying here in Mpls with DS for a couple months while DH lives there, perhaps in the back of our truck. 

I am really looking forward to getting away from the assholes that live here in the big city.  Aren't people supposed to be friendlier in small towns?

Small town people are usually friendlier but keep in mind that everyone knows everyone which usually leads to gossip but I am sure that happens in big cities also.

 I definitely agree with this statement!  To add,  I was also military previously and have found out of the many places I have lived, I have learned that home is where you both will make it   I sure hope that DH finds a place or is able to room with some co-workers until you both find a place!  I spent a good chunk of time in that town at the Law Enforcement Academy and really did like it.  My favorite place was the ice cream parlor downtown!  Great ice cream!!!  I also really liked the green way-they did a great job on it for that area  The best I have seen out of any city I have visited in Wyoming.

Douglas is small but it is not the smallest town in Wyoming.  Its a good population station.   My DH grew up in Glenrock, which isn't that far from Douglas. We go camping all the time around there.
