I am with you! Left side, wake up two hours later Left side hurts, Right side, wake up two hours later that hurts, plus I have a metal rod in my arm on that side so my whole body hurts.
My doc said I could lay on my back just as long as I am not laying flat. I am sleeping with...5 pillows behind me at a slant (kinda looks like a recliner). Then I have a bolster pillow under my knees & my preg pillow to my left. I have done this the last two nights and have only gotten up to go to the bathroom, not bc of pain with my hips. I go from my back to my left side and it has really helped.
I know everyone is different and different things are going to work/help just a little tip that might help.
btw...my husband says he can't wait till she is here so he can at least touch me at night because I have my own fort! Thank goodness we have a King!!
Re: for those not sleeping well..
I think I should try that.
And my husband calls my pillows my '"fortress of solitude."
Wow! Well I hope that will keep helping. I have a queen and a husband that is 6"4, so I don't have room for a fort, lol. Lately I have been using a flat pillow and putting my knee up over it and that helps-sometimes with the wedge pillow behind me or in addition to it- though the trick is waking up often. I honestly haven't been waking up in pain though, so that's a good thing. I am mostly uncomfortable right at first when I am trying to adjust everything.
I recently started listening to a relaxation track (from the Hypnobirthing book) on an mp3 player before bed though, and I honestly think it has helped me get in a deeper sleep. Then I've been practicing the breathing to get back to sleep when I wake up on my back.
This. Last night was the worst i've had...every 20 minutes and when i got up to use the bathroom, it wasn't just sciatic pain like it has been...my whole body ached. This morning i finally resorted to a warm shower and just sat in the spray like a lazy bum trying to ease all the muscle strain and tension
Hmm...I like the advice for sleeping on your back!! I was never a back sleeper until I got pregnant- I hated it, but now it feels the most comfortable and I wake up on my back, and just immediately roll off it. Since I have the bed to myself, I make a huge pillow fort all around me, and my dogs like to lay on top of the fort.
Lately, my couch has been more comfortable- so I have made a bed out of it. I tucked a flat sheet over it, and have all my pillows out there- but it's a very deep couch, and we have a huge ottoman that can be pulled up and make it wider than a full bed. The arm of the couch with my pillows props me up comfortably to help with the heartburn at night!
