Graco PnP- Defective sound unit or normal?

I set up my pack n play and put batteries in the sound unit and the vibe unit and am totally disappointed!

 The music is barely audible! Even when I turn it all the way up (which I can hardly tell if I have without putting my ear literally to the speaker) I really can not hear it. Is this normal? The lights are very dim as well and wouldn't really light up a little foot (I'm not sure about this yet, though, just speculating). Plus, the vibe unit seems really intense!! And the 2 intensity levels have no noticeable difference. 

Is this how your Graco PnP is? What are your thoughts/experiences? 

I'm just wondering if I should contact Graco. Maybe our unit is defective...?

Oh and just a btw, I have the Graco PnP with newborn napper in "kinsey".

Ours was the same way on my 3 year olds. I have not checked the pnp we just bought. I don't plan on using it so was not even going to put battires in it.

That's how ours is. It's fine. It sounds quiet, and looks dim to you now in the middle of the afternoon, but at night when you are most likely using the light it will be plenty bright. You'll be able to see fine but it won't be like turning on your light and waking everyone up. The sounds are supposed to be soothing so they are not super loud. I will say I thought that was a silly part of our PnP and when he got here I thought it was wonderful and was glad it was there.
