Confession

I have NOTHING ready for DS2.  Nothing.  We still have a full-sized bed in his nursery.  I haven't washed a single sheet or sleeper.  I don't have a hospital bag packed.  I've yet to buy the new pump (still can't decide between the PISA or the Freestyle).

WHY am I such a procrastinator?!?

Re: Confession

  • And i thought I was bad?!!! Only kidding.

Remember, the little guy just needs some diapers, onsies, a boob and a place to sleep Stick out tongue  You have time.

  • I'm a jerk.I'm avoiding a friend because she and her H just ttc and will be testing any day now. If she gets pregnant before me I will be green with envy. I will be extremely happy for her but my jealousy may cause me to act a fool and avoidance seems the best idea.
  • Oh girl, you better get to it!!

No kidding, all he needs is YOU.

  • My best friend just had her third baby boy five days early even though she had a planned c-section.

She was finally digging through boxes of baby stuff in the basement (she has two boys already) and got side-tracked when she found her high school prom dress.  She put it on for her husband.  They laughed, they took pictures....and then her water broke.  Now THAT is procrastination. It's also a fine way to ruin a perfectly awesome prom dress from 1994.

I'm sure you'll be going through your tube top collection when you go into labor.

This is an awesome story for the baby book.

It'll all come together for you Tricia.  Baby clothes don't take that long to wash, and it's not like the nursery is going to be used for a couple weeks after the baby is born anyway.

  • We never used a nursery until months after Ava was born, so I didn't prepare one AT ALL before Charlotte was born.  We just set up the co-sleeper and diaper changing station in our room, got our swing out, washed some clothes/blankets/Boppy and installed our carseat.  That is really all she needed and is all I will be doing to get ready for Lila as well (except I will need to get her some new clothes... first winter baby).  I didn't even get my pump/parts out and clean them until my milk came in a few days after coming home from the hospital.

This was our experience, too.  Honestly, the only time we ever took Jacob into his nursery (for the first 5-6 months) was to change his diaper.  I was so anal the first time around, and I'm so blase about preparing for DS2.  Poor kid...so "disadvantaged," from the beginning.  Stick out tongue

  • Oh, we should start a procrastinators club, for sure. I didn't have the bassinet set up, we didn't have clothes washed, we didn't have a bag packed, NOTHING. We didn't even wash our dinner dishes from the night before (my water broke when I woke up at 7:00 AM). Granted, I was 2 1/2 weeks early. Next time around, I really hope to have the kitchen clean and my hospital bag packed. I was a hot mess. Thank God for pinkylu - she came over and cleaned my kitchen, set up the bassinet and washed/dried/hung up Jonah's clothes while I was in labor.

  • Ha!  I think that's fairly normal.  I was totally obsessed with getting ready for #1 and totally finished 2 months before delivery.  #2 I scrambled the last month to get everything ready.  #3.... hahahaha!  I was like "Eh.... the crib only takes a few minutes to put together and we'll swing by Kroger's for diapers on the way home from the hospital." LOL.  Ok, so maybe I did pick up a pack of diapers on my last trip to the grocery before he came :) but, I definitely didn't have a years worth of diapers, age appropriate toys and books, and 4 seasons of clothes like I did the first time around.
  • Yup, totally normal. We did much less to get ready for Owen than we did for Maggie. Shoot, there's still a queen sized bed in his room that I sleep in sometimes but usually just pile clean laundry on. And his closet is full of Mike's clothes. Poor kid.

    Too funny!
