pacifier sizes???

I did not even know pacifiers came in sizes! The hospital used the Soothies, and it was recommended by others, so that is what we are using still.  DS is 2 months old.  I noticed the other day that Soothies also come in pink or blue - but for 3 months +.  Can anyone comment on the differences between the newborn and the 3 mo +?  They looked the same size to me - but they were still in their packs.  Is this a necessary change?  If he wears out a paci, should I move him up to the 3 mo or stick with the same ones he is used to? Thanks!

Is the circle part around the nipple larger on the 3mo+? I know that there is a warning on the package about using smaller pacifiers for older babies b/c they may be able to fit the whole thing in their mouths-- obviously a choking hazard!

The 3+ month ones are made of different plastic...they're a lot harder. DS loved his newborn soothie, so I thought he'd like the 3+ month one. He hated it. We went with Playtex pacifiers instead when it was time for the switch.
