Cloth Diapering

newbie question

We're planning on CDing our LO and have started building a stash, but were trying to decide what to do in the newborn period - and are leaning towards PFs.

How do you learn to do the different folds?

Also - what did you do in the hospital? Did you do disposables for that period and switch when you got home?

TIA ladies!

Re: newbie question

  • I did PFs in the newborn stage and loved it, thought it was very easy and worked very well for us.  I learned a couple of folds at my local cloth diaper store (who just announced they are closing Crying ) and I also went onto youtube and looked up videos of folds.  DH & I practiced on a teddy bear.

I did use the disposables in the hospital and then we ended up using disposables until her cord stump fell off.  She was a tiny peanut and I could not get a fold on her that wouldn't irritate the stump.

    Good Luck!

  • We are doing prefolds and covers.  Mostly for the expense reason.  In the hospital we are going to just use sposies.  We'll see how it goes with her cord when we get there.  As with folding I just searched around the internet looking for specific folds.

    Good luck!

  • Youtube has a ton of PF folds.

We didn't do CDs until we got home. But we adopted DD, so we're a special case ;)
