Thank you for all the responses to my previous questions. Hopefully this will end them for a little while.
DH and I are starting to get our NB stash going and I'm making the last few decisions before we begin.
We are very budget conscious and I would love to use pre-folds. I'm scared that with newborns skinny little legs and an EBF baby, they would leack.
Would a jelly roll fold be sufficient for keeping poo in?
What did you use on your NB and how did it work out?
thanks.

Re: Considering Prefolds for NB.
I used GMD orange edge prefolds and bummis and thirsties covers. My LO has super skinny legs, but I was able to tighten these much better than my XS AIO for a fit from the beginning.
I used the angel fold. They poop would generally leak out of the prefold, but it stopped at the cover generally unless I didn't get the cover on right.
We did the angel-wing fold mainly because I was too lazy to do the jelly roll. It worked for us well enough, but if we had serious problems with poo blowing out of the prefold we would have adjusted the fold to make sure it held better. For the most part, nothing ever escaped the cover so that was our only concern.
You'll love prefolds on a newborn. They're so easy and you can get a great fit. Covers are what lock it all in and make it great.
I didn't start CDing until DD was a month old, but she's EBF and has skinny legs and we've had no issues with leaking pfs. Poop will get on the cover at times, but no further. We had plenty of leaks with disposables. We use GMD pfs with Thirsties covers (both xsmall and duo) and we also do the angel wing fold.
My LO is only 2 weeks and some days old and we've been using prefolds/covers for day, AIO's for nighttime. He also has really skinny little legs, Thirsties Duo Wrap size 1 are REALLY good as far as tightening them enough.
Also invest in Snappis if you're doing prefolds.
Makes it much snugger.
No leaks or blowouts for us yet!

This, except I now use the bikini twist. I don't find it any more difficult than the angel wing, but it contains poop much better for us.

Angel wing fold here, too. Jelly roll looked too complicated for me
DS has been CD'd from birth and I can count on one hand the number of leaks we've had. Wish I could say the same about DD, who was in disposables exclusively during her EBF stage...
