Itchy Belly and Rash - Remedies?

My stomach is on fire! It's all red, bumpy, stretch marks are raised (so pretty, lol). I have tried cortizone cream, gold's powder and nothing is helping.

Any suggestions? I called the Dr.'s office but so far no call back and I am losing my mind.

Re: Itchy Belly and Rash - Remedies?

  • Is it worth it to try calamine lotion?

  • i've tried just about everything too.  Try topical benadryl maybe?  that kinda sorta worked a little for me.
  • I tried some calamine and that seems to relieve it a bit.

  • yeah i used that as well.  just keep thinking how worth it this will be in the end, mama!!!
  • When you say on fire do you mean hurting or itchy? I had PUPPPS with my son and it started as itchy raised stretch marks. It was the worst part of my pregnancy. Look it up to see if what you have looks like pictures online.

For temporary relief try grandpa's pine tar soap. You can get it at gnc. It smells gross but it helps and Sarna lotion which you can get at any drug store.

I thought calamine helped the most with me!

When mine was on fire, I tried to get my mind off it by doing something that required my full attention and would distract me.

It could be PUPPS, is it just the belly?  I had PUPPS with DS1 and Sarna lotion was heaven to me...

  • Sounds like pupps to me. I have some pics and what worked for me in my bio (though it's some hard format that's hard to view)
  • Yup, sounds like PUPPS to me, too. The only thing that worked for me was cortisone cream, which you said you've already tried - you can talk to your doctor about possibly getting a cream with a stronger dosage in it, if you are interested (obviously steroids are one of those things that aren't great for the babies, but if it's really bad - as mine was - then my doctor recommended it simply so I wouldn't lose my sanity).
  • It does sound like the start of puppps.

I was on everything with Puppps (including steroids). Dandallion root pills were the only thing that really made it go away.

Sarna lotion and grandpas pine tar soap helped bring temporary relief . I ordered soap and cream from this website https://rainiersoapworks.com/ which also seamed to help a little.

I spent so much $ in drug stores trying anything and everything.  Please keep us posted. I use to post all the time asking for advice but it seemed to be so rare on here.

Yup, sounds like PUPPS. I had to get the steroid cream too. It was not fun... I had it bad though not just on my belly but my feet! I was up all night long. I pray it goes away for you ladies and soon!

  • grandpas pine tar soap worked wonders for me. After using it for a week and a half my PUPPS was completely gone. It smells like a campfire though so it isn't the most pleasant soap. It was completely worth the ~$3 I spent and smelling like a fire for weeks.
