Poop

So I have a poop question.  Last weekend we tried DD on whole lactose-free milk.  All was going well till Monday when we noticed some runny poop and diaper rash, nothing terrible though like with regular milk.  She is also getting 3 teeth, two of which are molars.  So we stopped everything on Monday and went back to what we were doing to see if it would go away.

Now it's Sunday and we're getting really runny poop still (I almost think it's getting worse), though we've mostly cleared the diaper rash.  Is this just a teething thing?  I can't imagine the milk a week later is still doing this.  Any suggestions besides BRAT diet to get it more solid?  TMI but her last diaper almost warranted a trip to the bathtub.

Re: Poop

  • I think it takes 2 weeks for milk to be fully out of their system or at least to stop seeing the effects of it. But it is odd that the symptoms got worse. You might be experiencing some sort of virus on top of everything.

That was my other thought.  She has no other symptoms though besides the runny poop, and she's not pooping much more than normal.  What's also weird is when we tried regular milk she had a reaction the first time she pooped, this time with lactose free she had no symptoms for 3 full days, so I wasn't sure if it was milk or teething.

  • Our doc has always told us that teething can cause runny poop b/c of all the extra drool and everything.  Or it might just be a random virus or something along those lines.  You could always check with the Doc just for some reassurance.
  • I've noticed Carter gets runny poop from time to time with teething.  There is a virus going around though because it just went through our house this week.

    Hope it gets better soon!
