For those taking B6 for M/S

I just noticed my prenetal has some B6 in it also. I don't want to "OD" on B6. So how much should you be taking per day for M/S?

  • My Dr said 25 mg 3-4 times a day is ok (on top of prenatals).

  • My midwife said I can take 50 mg in the morning and 50 mg at night.  It seems to be helping.

  • My OB said it was fine and encouraged it. no worries.

  • Vitamin B is water soluble so if you take too much of it, it is fine and the excess will be flushed out of your body when you pee. The vitamins you need to be concerned about are fat soluble and include vitamin A, vitamin D, vitamin E and vitamin K. They will stay in your system and can be toxic if you are getting too much of them.
