RP from 6-9: Refusing formula

My DDs are both refusing formula.  I think they prefer the taste of fruits and veggies.  They were 2 months premature and have been on preemie formula ever since.  They have been slow to gain weight.  Our pedi said to switch to regular at 9 months which is 3 weeks away. They were on a 3 hour schedule but we got the OK to go every 4 hours as long as they got the min. amount of formula needed.  Unfortunatly they have not been finishing.  It's really stressing me out.  Our feeding are taking forever.  Any advice on how we get them to "like" formula again.

I have no advice but I just wanted to tell you that I am right there with you. DD has always hated formula/bottle no matter how many we have tried. I am just counting the months until we are done and hoping that the milk/cup transition goes well. Good luck! My DD is slow to gain also and is a little peanut for her age!

My 32wkr started doing the same thing around that age - turns out it wasn't the formula but the bottle he didn't want anymore...once I put the formula in an open cup and let him drink it that way he was fine.  When he got a few months older we switched to straws.  I'm not saying your problem is the same as mine but it might be worth a shot to try a different "container" - good luck!

Mine did that too around your age.  I wasn't too stressed though because they were at normal weights for their actual age.  How are your babies doing on weight?  If they are doing OK, maybe it's time to take away a bottle???  I don't know, I always say check with your pedi first (even though I didn't, I just followed their cues).  They didn't need all their bottles once solids became a big deal to them and they were eating them in full force, we took away a bottle.  They literally refused their first bottle of the morning from 6 months old, their first bottle of the day wasn't until morning nap.  Also, around your same age mine went up a nipple speed and then showed more interest.  Maybe try that too.  Good luck!
