I am taking those too, but I don't know what for and they were never referred to as hatching meds.
That's what the nurse called them here, and it is even written on my calendar that they provided to me.
I will also begin estradiol and baby aspirin two days after my 5 day transfer. I also don't know what those are for! I'm such a lemming.
Hmmm...I am on the aspirin now I started it with my stims, it is to increase blood flow to the uterus. I don't know about the estradiol, is that the same as estrace? If so it is for your lining, but my doc always had me take it pre-O when I was doing IUIs. I am not taking it with my IVF, but I am doing estrogen/progesterone supps in addition to PIO.
TTC since 8/2004
Me - DX Hashimoto's Disease, Hypothyroid, Rheumatoid Arthritis
DH - DX Azoospermia - Sertoli Cell Syndrome
DS-IUI #1-4 BFN
IVF #1 - BFP! It's a boy!!!
Daisy, it sounds like our docs do similar things with different timing, for whatever reason.
The estradiol is estrace, and i also took that for my lining pre-O when we were doing IUIs. . and the aspirin is curious, too, I guess, since it is started later in the cycle. . . We are also using crinone instead of PIO, and I guess I'm a little grateful for that.
My doctor gave me some paperwork on all of this, hope it answers your questions a little!
The exact reason that antibiotics have been shown to increase prenancy rates is unknown. It is believed that it helps with implantation of embryos into the unterine lining as well as to minimize the chance of infection.
Steriods are used to mildly suppress the immune system. It is believed that this suppression of the immune system prevents rejection of the embryos after transfer.
It is believed that aspirin helps to prevent the formation of a blood clot at the site of uterine implantation. Studies have shown a correlation between the use of aspirin and pregnancy rates. However, no definite need as been documentad at this time.
