hike today?

Hi ladies! I am in Gatlinberg with DH and we want to go on a "hike" later this morning. It's not quite 3 miles round trip on a paved surface. Think this will be too much for me? The afternoon will be spent getting in and out of the car as we drive this 30 mile loop to a cave or cavern or something.

Thoughts on walking almost 3 miles? I really want to go because it's to this, what looks to be, gorgeous waterfall....I have water and snacks packed!

  • I think if you are conditioned to walk 3 miles (you've been doing it already on a regular basis) and the footing is good, I say go for it.  If your exercise has been lacking, it might be a bit much.  Take some water with you and if you feel like you need a rest, take it.  Have fun and be careful.
    I give up trying to get a ticker.  I have a DD that is 2.5 years old and is awesome.  Maybe I'll add a quote to distinguish myself.  Hmmm.  How about...

  • I still do 3+ mile walks on the beach a couple times a week. Just stay well hydrated and listen to your body. If it's paved, I'm going to assume the incline isn't too bad. Sounds like fun to me (but I'm not an OB, obviously...)!
  • I'd do it!  But for me walking is easy enough.  It's just walking up stairs that really exhausts me.  But go at a nice pace, have fun, and enjoy the view!
  • Yes, walking is great for you.  3 miles should be fine.

  • I walked 5 miles 5 times a week up until the end of August (when school started again).  Now, I go 2, sometimes 3 times a week.  If you have been walking/light hiking, I say go for it!

  • I think you'l be okay.I walked a very rough terrain trail 2.3 miles today and I was fine.I hardly ever excersise.Just make sure you take plenty of water,have fun!
