First appt sucked

My first appt was today, 8 weeks. A couple days ago they called me and said they needed to reschedule because my doc was going on maternity leave. So they found another doctor within the group but at a different location and sent me there. When I made the original appt I was told there would be an ultrasound and a pap smear.

So I go to the new doctor and he asks if I have any questions so we talk for a little bit. Then he says "all right, I'll see you in a month and you can schedule your ultrasound at the front". I said I thought I was getting one today and he said that they don't do them at that location. Then they drew some blood and I was out of there. I could have sworn that a girl I saw paying had an ultrasound picture in her hand. My doc also said he is moving to CA so he will be leaving the practice and I'm wondering if he was just being lazy?

It was just so disappointing because DH got off early to be there thinking we would hear the heartbeat and all we did was talk! I don't even know why they had me come in and didn't tell me that when we rescheduled, I would have just made the one appt for the ultrasound and blood draw if I had known.

I'm just annoyed now and wanted to vent. Has anyone experienced anything like this? Now I still have to wait a week and 1/2 to hear the heartbeat

Maybe you can try and find a different doctor. I got my blood work and ultrasound at my first appointment.

I'm so sorry that you had a bad experience.  The first appointment should have been exciting for you.  I recommend looking for a different OB.  I heard it's quite normal to go to a couple OB's until deciding on "the one."  I think it's important for you and your husband to be comfortable and happy wherever you go.

My 1st appt was a letdown too. MH also took off time from work to come and it was for nothing. They didn't even have me piac or take my blood. I had to go to a hospital the next day to do that. My next appt isn't until 4 weeks from now and we will finally be able to hear/see the heartbeat then. 

It'll be great for you to be able to hear the hb in a week and a half though! It may seem far away, but hopefully it'll get here soon. GL!
