Heels? edited LIP

As many of you know, I have a wedding at the end of the month.  I have had no swelling or anything like that, and I really want to wear some killer shoes.  I'd really like to wear heels because that would look the best with the dress (which looks fabulous, btw ;) )  Is anyone else still wearing heels?  Do you think I'd be alright for just the wedding and the reception?

FYI:  It is a black tie optional wedding, and DH is the best man so he will be in a tux.  So I'm really trying to look pretty formal so I don't look bad in pictures and things and to match DH.  I will definitely get yelled at by MIL for wearing heels because "I have more to think about than just myself."  (statement said multiple times chastising me after wearing 2 inch heels to church at 4 months.....)

How about these:

The dress is dark brown with bronze-y sequin detail

  • If you're comfortable wearing heels, I say go for it.  I would bring along a pair of flats, though, just in case you get uncomfortable.

I definitely plan on this.  I have been wearing heels for forever, so I'm completely comfortable.  The only problem is that the only shoes I've found I like are 4 inch heels!!

  • I'm still wearing all my heels. Not to work (I have to wear flats or running shoes) but to church, out to dinner, etc- a few hours at a time.

If you're still comfortable in them, I would say you're fine. Just be careful of your back- make sure you sit down when you can, stand up straight, all that. Maybe you could bring a pair of flats just in case you get uncomfortable.

  • I have a wedding to go to tomorrow and am wondering the same thing. I guess I will wait until I getting dressed and try different pairs on before I walk out the door. We'll see what feels right at the time.

But I am definitely wearing some sort of heels. Flats look too frumpy

  • I did a couple of weeks ago to a wedding they were 4 inch heels too. Just be careful all your joints are looser now.  You can also take them off while your feet are under the table if you need a lil break.

  • I had a wedding to go to while pg, I wore my heels and brought some very nice flats to put on later.  My heels were about that high but they weren't stiletto thin.

  • I love the heels in the 2nd link.  And just because you're pregnant doesn't mean you shouldn't be rockin some killer heels.  I'm still wearing 3-4 inch heels at work and whenever I feel like wearing heels.  The only time I had any kind of problems was in 2" sandals that I wore walking to and from a broadway show in NYC - my feet were swollen from that.  Like everyone else said - make sure to bring a change of shoes for later but that's not even a pregnancy thing - I always bring a change of shoes to weddings because my feet end up killing me after a night of dancing.

  • I guess its a comfort level choice.  If you wear heels a lot and don't think you will have balancing issues or trip because you can't see your feet when you walk, then give it a try.  I agree with PP, pack a pair of flip flops or ballet flats in your purse that you can slip on if your feet start to swell or hurt later in the night.  If you don't wear heels a lot, I probably wouldn't start now.  You don't want to risk a stumble for fashion's sake.
I give up trying to get a ticker.  I have a DD that is 2.5 years old and is awesome.  Maybe I'll add a quote to distinguish myself.  Hmmm.  How about...

  • i like both of those shoes.  i'm still wearing my heels and have had no problems, just other people's annoying comments.  i say go for it if you can!

  • I was in a wedding when I was only about 18 weeks or so, and I had to wear heels.  I picked 2.5" ones, the lowest cute ones I could find, and by the time we even got to the cocktail hour I was absolutely DYING!  So, I would suggest, a) bring small flats as a back up, and b) go with the ones in the second link (which are adorable - I love them!) because they have a bit of a platform which always helps.

  • They are both pretty, but I like the first ones best :) I am also attending a wedding later this month and debating heels. I think if you feel pretty balanced in them it should be fine. You can always bring a pair of flats in case they hurt too much. Not sure what to tell you about the MIL thing though...best of luck!
  • I actually like the gold ones better... those could go with a lot.

I would wear my heels if my maternity jeans were the right length. :( I'm anal about the length being right because I've worn too many high-waters in my life.
