Cloth Diapering

What's your favorite overnight diaper?

Just ordered a few more BG AIO OS but not sure how they'd do overnight.  So just curious what others use.

ETA: sorry ... just saw another post below about same thing!

Re: What's your favorite overnight diaper?

  • It depends on whether your LO is a heavy wetter at night or not.  Some people do just fine with double stuffed BGs at night, while others (like my son) do not.  It was a bit of trial and error at first to figure out our nighttime solution, but I think I can speak for most moms of heavy wetters that the solution that works best is fitteds paired with a wool cover of some sort.  And also, in my experience with MANY fitteds, you get what you pay for.  The solution that works best for us is a Goodmama fitted with a wool cover (we use a wool wrap in the summertime and wool longies in the winter) or a Monkey Snuggles overnight fitted.  The MS Overnights are hard to come by, but when they are stocked, some kind mamas usually post over here giving a heads up.  Another great thing about fitteds with wool is once your LO starts sleeping through the night and can go 12 hours without a diaper change, you might notice that they could get a rash.  Fitteds and wool are both made out of breathable fibers so air can circulate through the skin.  We've never had a problem.  We used to use Blueberry pockets stuffed with hemp doublers and while they contained leaks, he would have a red bottom by morning since the PUL from pockets and AIOs prevents air movement.  Anyways, that was my experience for nighttime solutions, but you might find that BGs work wonderfully for you.  Regardless, this board is an awesome resource should you find you need more suggestions.  GL!

  • B4 fitteds are our favorite for night time. We use fleece covers because our son is sensitive to wool.

  • Blueberries with hemp doublers
  • Monkey Snuggles with a fleece cover. Big Smile  (Just put fleece on her and love it)
  • We use a BG 3.0 with 2 inserts and it seems to work fine so far.  I just bought a Sustainablebabybish contour and a wool cover and I love them so far!

  • Monkey Snuggles overnight with wool or a plain old Thirsties cover.  They are super hard to come by.  I also have a B4 thats pretty good too, but shipping on those is like 3 weeks from Canada, so you could probably get a hold of a monkey snuggles in that time and in my opinion the monkey snuggles are better.

  • When DD was a super-heavy wetter... fleece-lined Very Baby Simply Nights or Happy Hempys under a wool cover. She needed the absorbency of a fitted, but she woke up if she felt wet, so the fleece lining was key.

Now, both kids wear pockets overnight. DS is in a BG or Kawaii with a bamboo insert (from the Swaddlebees outlet) + hemp insert (Joey Bunz). DD is in a Blueberry with a Greenhorn Super Sleepytime insert (https://www.hyenacart.com/greenhorn).

Mommy to DD1 (June 2007), DS (January 2010), DD2 (July 2012), and The Next One (EDD 3/31/2015)
