(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? He will be 11 months tomorrow.

(2) Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?  He's definitely testing his balance and his ability to stand.  It's so funny.  He's also been trying out new sounds and sometimes will babble for awhile just to himself.

(3) Next appointment date?  We just got his first flu shot the other night, and he has to go back for another one in a month.  So, I'll make an appt around the time of the 12 month well visit to get that and one of the other shots from his appt.

(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? sleep and teething - he's got some molars coming in, it looks like.

(5) What's your favorite shower/baby birthday gift you've received? the mobile    DH and I both loved it and we couldn't wait to get it.

(6) Did you or are you planning on taking an infant CPR/first aid class?  We took it about 2 weeks after he was born b/c we couldn't get into one before that.

(7) Mamas:  Do/did you attend PEPS, First Weeks, or other parenting groups when your LO was first born, or later?  How was your experience?  What was most helpful, if anything?  we didn't join any parenting groups - I thought it was hard b/c I couldn't drive for 3 weeks and I was just so tired anyway.   Most helpful in the first few weeks was people coming over to take the baby for awhile so I could get a few hours of sleep or take a shower.

(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? A bit down about going back to work. OK, a lot down. Milestones...they're really into their solids now! They've been eating them for a couple of weeks, but it's like now they've really gotten the hang of it - grabbing the spoon to help guide it into their mouths, opening really wide for food, etc.

(3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? Oct 26 - the boys' 6 month checkup.

(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? Finding child care. See my other post.

(5) What's your favorite shower/baby birthday gift you've received? Hmm. I would say my diaper bag - I love that thing! I'm not sure if you can count the stroller - we paid for it, but my mom did wrestle that heavy box through four airports!

(6) Did you or are you planning on taking an infant CPR/first aid class? Yes! I haven't done it, but it's on my list. In my area, Target has teamed up with the ambulance service and is offering a limited number of free infant first aid/CPR classes to parents. So I need to call them and get on the list.

(7) Mamas:  Do/did you attend PEPS, First Weeks, or other parenting groups when your LO was first born, or later?  How was your experience?  What was most helpful, if anything? I went to one mother's group (sponsored by the hospital, so they had guest speakers like nutritionists, etc.) a grand total of one time when the boys were about 2.5 years old. I think that by that point I didn't really need most of the info they gave - about settling babies, etc. - but I was way too overwhelmed to go earlier.

(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 2 1/2 months

(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? I'm kind of freaking out about going back to work on the 18th.  There's a *tiny* part of me that is excited, but mostly, I'm terrified.  I'm scared of being away from Henry all day, and also worried about how he'll be in day care all day.  It was such an easy decision to make back when I was pregnant, but now the thought of working outside the house full-time seems so daunting.  I'm also regretting starting back on a Monday with a full week ahead....what was I thinking???

A good milestone, though....Henry can hold his head up fairly regularly now!  At least, when he's not too tired!  I can hold him just by his hands, and he only bobble-heads a little bit and can sit that way for up to 5-10 minutes. 

Then another sad milestone....I'm done breastfeeding, including pumping.  Done.  For sure.  I stopped putting him on the breast about two weeks or so ago.  I could no longer take the screaming, punching, and crying that accompanied most sessions.  But I had still been pumping since then.  But my supply has tanked even more (if that's even possible!).  For the past three days I can't pump more than an ounce, usually only about a half ounce each time....ridiculous!  So I pumped last night, and I'm just not going to anymore.  I do have about 100 or so ounces saved.  Not much, but it's a little, and I'm going to ration it out over the next few weeks.

(3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? Nov. 22nd, I think?  Something like that.

(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? Getting prepared for day care.  We had an orientation at the facility this past Tuesday, and it went very well.  I did feel a little better after sitting in the infant room with his teachers for about a hour.  Next week we're doing a half day on Wednesday, and almost a full day on Thursday, just to get used to it.

(5) What's your favorite shower/baby birthday gift you've received? (Ironically!) Probably my breast pump.  I put it on the registry, and didn't expect anyone to actually get it since it was so expensive.  But a few of my aunts went together and got it for me.  I was so touched!  They knew how important it was to me.

(6) Did you or are you planning on taking an infant CPR/first aid class? Yes, though I already knew infant CPR, and they really didn't cover first aid much, so I kind of felt like it was a waste.  But I took every class available to me, and felt better about it!

(7) Mamas:  Do/did you attend PEPS, First Weeks, or other parenting groups when your LO was first born, or later?  How was your experience?  What was most helpful, if anything? I went to a group sponsored by the hospital once, but not until Henry was already 8 weeks old.  It only meets once a month, and I was too overwhelmed to make it the first month.  I did like it a lot, but I hate that it only meets during the day during the week, so I can't ever go again.  Why does it seem like programs like that are only for SAHMs?

*hugs* I feel your pain...and, if you're anything like me, a horrible combination of relief and guilt.

Oh, and I'm with you on parenting groups seeming to be only for SAHMs. Same thing with playgroups - would it kill them to do one on a weekend? Or maybe the occasional late afternoon? It's always some random time on a weekday that's impossible for anyone with a job to attend.

She's 8.5 months old

She's an expert crawler now!  Amazing was 10 days does for a baby!  She's SUPER fast and now crawling up on things, pulling to a stand.  She will walk steps if we hold her under arms. With all of her mobility, she's not gained any wait since July...still just over 23 lbs. and around 28.5 inches long...so she's slowing down!  I won't have a 30 lb. one year old after all!

(3) Next appointment date?  Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?

Just her nine monthn pedi at the beginning of November.  I do want to schedule her to see an eye doctor and dentist before her first birthday, just to get a baseline exam.

(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?

Not really a challenge for me, but for DH.  He goes to bed at 1 a.m. and LO has decided to be awake at 6-6:30 a.m.  She goes to bed between 8-9 p.m. (depending upon the day) and used to sleep until 8:30-9 a.m.  Now? She's on-the-go and wants to be up and play.  She'll get up arund 6-6:30 a.m. and play for an hour or so and then want to go back to sleep.  She's been doing this everyday for a week, so we've figured it's not temporary.  My mom has offered to get up with her (since I am out the door at 6:45 a.m. for work) and let DH sleep. Challenge solved!

(5) What's your favorite shower/baby birthday gift you've received?

Love our Twillight Turtle! Also some hand crocheted baby blankets.

(6) Did you or are you planning on taking an infant CPR/first aid class?

There was a free class by the Red Cross offered at our local community center.  I took it in June as preparation for introducing solids using BLW.  My mom came with me.  DH already had his training as part of the RN program he's in.

Getting used to having to keep an eye on him more as he's starting to become a bit mobile now! He's doing this sort of army crawl and scooting himself all over the place!

It's hard to pick just one thing...but the one thing I got that I originally didn't think I would really need that much and ended up using ALL the time is my nursing cover.

Yup, that was actually the only paid class we took (other than a cheap $10 class when we first got pg).

Ha, this is a good point! I think that was the reason I didn't feel like I was mising out on anything...if I have a question or concern, this is my first stop.
