What games are good for 2-3 year olds?

We have Elefun, and Brenna loves it.  She also loves playing match with a set of 6-8 cards.  I would love to add a game or two to her Christmas list.  What games can they play at 2.5- 3 years old?

Can you tell I want my shopping to be done in the next few weeks?

  • Allison loves playing Go Fish.  She also likes matching uppercase and lowercase flash cards.  I know they aren't really games, but she really likes the Melissa and Doug 12- and 24-piece puzzles.
  • We have memory and alphabet bingo (with pictures).

I was at Target and saw they have a new memory/match game of "Don't let the pigeon drive the bus"--I would have bought it immediately ($14, yikes) but DS already has memory.  If you aren't familiar,  "Don't let the pigeon drive the bus" is a book series that is quiet humorous and is one of DS's favs.  It might be a cute book/game gift.  He also loves the look & see games and workbooks.

  • Charlie got the Busytown Eye Found It Board Game from my sister. It's a little advanced for him, so we don't really play it the way you're supposed to, but he'll grow into it. Right now he loves it because it has the same characters from the Busytown books, so we use it for vocab.

  • Oh, and it's not a game, but we really have fun with the I Spy books.

This is now on my list.  DS LOVES Richard Scarry, as do I :)  We love trying to find goldbug in the books.

There's another one actually called the "Busytown Board Game," and he'll probably get it for christmas. I think it's for slightly older kids, but it will be good to have around for when he's ready.

I LOVED Richard Scarry when I was little, and it's so much fun to read it with Charlie now. My dad said he always hated them because they had so many words and I forced him to read every single one of them :)
