My Shepherd was always mine and Juliana's biggest protector. Unfortunately, she was allergic to him and his last year he was with us he had to be outside by himself. I miss him dearly.

I love how people assume that big dogs are the problem. More kids get bit by little ankle biters than by the big dogs every year.
ETA:
Very cute pics, but I wouldn't let my dogs on the couch with the baby. You need to establish space and therefore respect. The shepard seemed cool, but I didn't like the look or body language of that Rottie in a couple of the shots.
I give up trying to get a ticker. I have a DD that is 2.5 years old and is awesome. Maybe I'll add a quote to distinguish myself. Hmmm. How about...
"It is more fun to talk with someone who doesn't use long, difficult words but rather short, easy words like "What about lunch?" - A.A. Milne, Winnie-the-Pooh
We have a 3 year old Weim too and he's going to be the best big brother! The pics on the blog is exactly what I am envisioning at our house, they brought tears to my eyes.

yea, the shepard is a lot more relaxed than the rottie, but hopefully the parents know their dogs better than we do from the pics.
I have a 100 lb lab/afghan mix who is a giant baby. He was great with my nephew (and still is). I think the dog will be looking forward to when the kid is eating solids and sharing with the floor.
We have a 3 year old Weim, too, and I must admit I am worried about how he's going to behave. He still has terrible seperation anxiety and lashes out if he doesn't get his way.
For this child I prayed, and the LORD has given me my petition which I asked of him.

We want to get a Doberman so my husband was researching Dobies and Babies. If you go to YouTube and search "Doberman and Baby" You get amazingly cute videos of them. So Cute!
I seriously can't wait to introduce my LO to our "first born" I can just imagine what a special bond they'll have! She's a great dog, super gentle with kids.
So cute!! We have 2 Mastiffs who love children and are great with our nieces, so I know they will be wonderful with the baby.
I'm not concerned about our dogs with the baby... but when she's learning how to walk, she could be in for an adventure trying to walk next to the dogs :-) We're already working with them to lay down in the presence of small children, unprompted, so we can minimize the accidental knocking-over of LO when she's toddling around.
Thanks for sharing this! I love the pictures and hope to catch some good memories on camera with my furbabies and baby girl. I have two Malinois (belgian shepherds) they are known as an insane protection/ working breed. My girls couldn't be any more of the opposite. I have people telling me all the time that they will be jelous and that I wont have time for them. I will always make time for them as they are a responsibility and just as I would need to give a baby attention they need it too!
Love it - I have a 5 yr old husky and a 3 yr old lab/pit mix. We too have been asked if we are worried about our dogs, but we really aren't. I can't wait to introduce them to their little sister.
We have three labs and get asked all.the.time about what we are going to do with the dogs once the baby comes. ummmm, nothing?! It's like people assume once the baby comes the dogs have to go...where do people come up with this crazy thinking?
