I'm late to the party, but my plan is to give birth in a birthing center, where epidurals are obviously not an option. For me, the major incentives will be no IV, no residents/med students checking on me before my doctor arrives, lower "risk" of c-section, being able to walk around and eat and drink, no Foley catheter, and best of all ... SLEEPING IN MY OWN BED THAT NIGHT. Since we only have the option of major teaching hospitals here in NYC, my only option is to go the alternative route. So be it.

I will be having a homebirth with a midwife, so yes, I will be going natural. I will be using Hypnobabies. Look into it, some woman who use it are able to cope with labor quite well and feel very little pain.
I had a 100% drug free, natural delivery, and to be honest, it was a lot less painful than I expected it to be. I did sit in the hot tub for a while during active labour and that may have been why it wasn't so bad.
Definitely give it a try! You can always request an epi or other meds if it's not working out for you.
I'm planning to give birth at a freestanding birth center with a midwife, perhaps in a tub!...I feel very lucky to have a birth center nearby!
However, if there are any complications, I will have to transfer to a hospital. I hope that this doesn't happen, and I hope not to need any sort of medication or medical interference, but one cannot predict the future! All that matters is a healthy baby at the end of the day.
Been hearing a lot about this Bradley method...guess it's time to head to the library!
