Treasure chests

Where can I find a sturdy treasure chest type of box that does not cost a ton?  I am collecting and making dress up clothes for DD's Christmas gift.  I would like to find a small chest that I can paint and personalize for her.  Thoughts?

  • My mom is doing the same thing for Katie's Christmas gift. She just purchased a white toy chest and is personalizing it for dress-ups.

She ordered some custom lettering to read, "What do I want to be when I grow up..."

She found a seller on etsy to make the letters. She is then going to find some other decals to put all over the chest.

Everyone else in the family is purchasing her dress-ups. We are focusing more on imaginative play versus princess. So far we have a doctor, police officer, fireman, vet, and cowgirl.

  • I second Hobby Lobby.  I love that store!  And everything seems to go on sale (50% off) at some point.  If not, they usually have 40% off coupons so you shouldn't have to pay full price for it.

  • Hobby Lobby! For Kellen birthday one year we got a treasure chest and stained it, put a lock on it and inside we loaded it up with "booty" (coins, jewels, necklaces, and other little things). I took a paper garbage bag and tore a map out of it and burned some sides and drew a map around our house for him to find the "X". He had so much fun that birthday! He was really into pirates then. We had a blast as well. He to this day will get the TC out and mess with it =)
