Babysitter help...

How did you find your babysitter/nanny?  DH and I don't have any family in the area so we need to find a babysitter to help us occasionally.  I have no idea how to find one and how to make sure they are reliable, trustworthy and able to handle two babies at once.

Who do you use for your babysitter and how did you find them?  Does anyone have any recommendations for someone available on the west side (I'm in Canton)?

Re: Babysitter help...

  • My neighbor has had success with sittercity.com. And when a friend of mine was a nanny she put her profile on care.com.

If there is a local moms' group in your area, you should join. I get a lot recommendations from the moms in my group. Also, some of the moms who say at home babysit.

  • Sorry, I have no advice.  I just wanted to say your siggy is sooooooo cute!
  • Your twins are adorable!!

We found our sitter through sittercity.com. I got TONS of responses to my ad.....interviewed 3 girls and chose the one we have had for almost a year now. Three of my friends have also used the site to find their nannies (many of whom have been with them for years now....). I don't know anyone that has had a bad experience with this site.

I'm not sure where you live, but if you are near Oakland Univ (in Rochester....), they have a fabulous early childhood/education program and you can post ads on the bulletin boards in the education building. I can't remember which building houses the education/early childhood students, but you can call and ask!

    GL!
