Burned up the web today

Did some online shopping today.  I did an inventory of the baby clothes I have collected to date and the ones I have registered for.  I seem to be set on 0-3 months and have pjs up to 6 months, but realized 3-12 months, I have no outfits.  So I did some shopping at gap.com and oldnavy.com and found some cute stuff.  Spent $100 and got free shipping.  I justified it with I don't want to be outfit shopping every time she grows a little that first year so I am hoping to have a pretty good wardrobe covering sizes up through 12-18 months.  I think that should cover her nicely for the first year.

I also finally got a rug for the nursery.  I just went with a solid, pale pink, plushy shag from Target.  I was putting way too much energy trying to find the perfect shabby chic rug that cost less than $100.  Now on to the crib skirt.

I give up trying to get a ticker.  I have a DD that is 2.5 years old and is awesome.  Maybe I'll add a quote to distinguish myself.  Hmmm.  How about...

  • Could you link to the rug you got?  I am debating getting a plush rug for the nursery and would love to see it!

  • I was just realizing today that I don't have enough clothes either, but promised myself I would wait until after my showers to see what we still need. I'll probably hit up some cyber Monday sales after Thanksgiving for some deals.

And yay for the rug. I had the hardest time finding one and really wanted it to be light purple or light pink, but DH said he didn't want too much pink in the nursery. So we just ended up getting a beige rug at Lowes.

  • So far I have only bought 2 things for him, but I don't want to buy a lot of clothes until after the shower to see what I need.

I'm thinking I will look for some good deals on Black Friday...Yes I am one of those crazy ones who love shopping with millions of people...even pregnant.

  • Ok, ladies, especially ladies expecting girls, people will buy you clothes once the baby is born.  They can't help themselves and like to buy cute, little outfits.  So I wouldn't worry about not having enough clothes.   I honestly didn't have to buy DD a single outfit until she started wearing 6-9 month clothing.  I'm not saying I didn't, just saying I did't have to.

I mostly bought with 6 months and up in mind.  But I really don't expect anything after she is born.  So far we haven't gotten much at all from family.  A single pair of knitted socks and a baby blanket from ILs and a couple of little baby items with our college logo on them from my dad.  All birthday presents for me.  Lame.  I really did this knowing that DH and I are on our own.

Aww, you're breaking my heart. (and completely not snark).  Yeah, baby gifts as birthday presents really wouldn't go over too well with me, but at least it was something.  Kudos to you and your DH for going into this on your own.  Sometimes I think people expect too much from family.   But I think you will be suprised who will buy you baby stuff after the baby is born.   At least, I hope you are.  I certainly was.  I'm talking coworkers and distant friends and people who your DH knows that you have no idea who they are.  And now I want to send you baby clothes, because I love to look at infant girl clothing!

Thanks Smile  Its not such a hard luck story.  DH and I are doing just fine financially so DD won't be hurting for cute outfits.  I think that's partially why no one in our family feels the need to "shower us" with gifts.  I am LOVING picking out all these little girl outfits too.

  • I am with you.  I need to get 3-6 & 6-12.  I am mainly counting on me & DH for everything! Just getting stuff here and there!
