Last Thursday night Macy forgot to ask for her paci before bed (shocking! the only time she got it was at nap and bedtime and she never forgot to ask for it) so we decided this is it...no more paci. About 30 seconds after we closed the door she started yelling for it. I decided to take advice of one of you and cut the tip off. I brought the "broken paci" in to Macy and said, sorry Macy it's broken. She was P'd OFF! Poor thing cried for like 20 minutes (broke DH's and my heart and we so wanted to go give her a real one). But, we stuck to our guns and she never cried again. She just acted annoyed at the broken paci all weekend but still held onto it and one time even used it. But, today for her nap and tonight for bed she didn't even ask for it or put up any fight

Yeah for no more paci!!! And thank you for whoever recommended cutting off the tip!

Yay! You give me hope. My DD is a paci (she calls it nyna) addict. We are going all in on operation binky break on the 16th. I am off the next week, and we full on plan to steal ideas from the pros here. Cutting off the tip, and let her CIO. I know we are in for a few sleepless nights, but that thing grates my nerves worse than anything else. Nothing is worse than a toddler taking a binky out so you can understand her, or having her cry for it in the middle of the night because it is caught in the blankets. You really give me hope that this may be easier than my brain tells me it will be.
How is school going? You have a 2 by your credentials now! Yay! It's going to start flying after the holidays.
Kle: I completely understand you wanting to wait...we were avoiding it like the plague and we don't even have the excuse of a new baby! P.S. I love your new pictures! I clicked on your link in the post below
hav2run: It was WAY easier than I ever imagined! We were planning on having a long weekend breaking her from it. But, I think the cutting off the tip was key...it was her choice whether to use it or not. I liked that better than just taking it away completely. Either way, I'm loving not getting up at 3am when I hear "My paci, my paci, where's my paci", hahah. I completely understand your concern, though...we were avoiding getting rid of it because we thought it was gonna be horrible.
School is going well. Good ole chemistry and physics class is painful, but that's to be expected. It's so exciting being an RNSA2
It gives me hope that this program will indeed end someday
I hope you're right and it starts flying by soon

Good to know that it might not be as painful as I think.
Kudos to you for getting through that program with a wee one in your home. My son was 13 when I went through it. Very different. It will start flying, I promise. As soon as you get the pharm course done next term, you will have nothing to focus on but clinicals. It is so nice, and starts feeling more like a job. Before you know it, your time is done, and then you have to stress about the big test. It is a distant memory for me now, but I will say that the last year flies. You will be a CRNA before you know what happened. Hang in there. Let me know if you need anything.
