Since Friday, I've been experiencing fluttering of my heart. It comes and goes. I have an appointment with my family doctor tonight (which I'm sure they will do an EKG). Anyone else ever have this feeling? I'm not short of breath either... it's just the fluttering.

Re: Heart fluttering
lurking...
my heart fluttered a few times in 2nd tri but i wasnt ever stressed at those times. i was actually lying down sleeping. ive always forgotten to mention it to my dr but it hasnt happened in wks so im not worried.
It is normal to have flutters while PG. Your heart is dealing with stress and more blood and that is sometimes what happens.
I have a heart arrythmia and with the stress of PG and the extra blood volume it has been kicked up a notch. That and I have experience tachycardia for a little bit. My OB said that we can do something about it if needed but I just deal with it because I would rather not medicate (that and, to be truthful, it is a part of my daily life now).
I have had this, often with shortness of breath, or the need to take a deep breath. I find that I get it after I work out or when I sit/lay in certain positions. I asked my OB about it (b/c my mom has heart problems....) and she said that there is so much extra blood in our bodies when pregnant that often the arteries are pumping it faster than the heart can take it. So the heart flutters a bit to play catch up. They also contribute my constant headaches to this.
I dont know.... I try not to worry, but my mom's conditions are on my mind too. For now I am told to walk at a slower speed and move positions if it happens again.
I am interested to hear what your Dr says. PM me if you don't repost. GL!
