I am struggling with morning sickness. I hate to doctor shop, but did anyone have an OB that was OK with prescribing Zofran? I don't think I can tolerate the nausea for another day, let alone another 6 weeks or, God forbid 9 months.
Well with my first I was throwing up about 11-12 times a day, couldn't keep anything down, lost 12lbs in a week and had to get an IV for dehydration. My doctor gladly gave me Zofran.I was on it up to 18 weeks and then I was just nauseaus the remainder of my pregnancy.
This time around I got it b/c I started to show the same symptoms and unfortunately I had to take it all 9 months.
Will your doctor not give it to you? Sometimes they don't like to give it till you've tried a bunch of other remedies if you are just nauseaus, but others will gladly give it so you can at least function
I got Zofran from my doctor no problem(i have a history of severe dehydration in correspondence(sp) to vomiting) the problem was my insurance, they would only OK 14 pills a month and i needed them every day
That's weird that your OB wont prescribe you Zofran. I would certainly doctor shop. Zofran helped me over the hump of vomitting but beware to take Colace or some sort of softener with it.. it causes a lot of constipation which can be equally as miserable. I recommend that when you DO get it.. only take it when you absolutely HAVE to.
Good Morning, I took Zofran throughout the whole pregnancy. I lost a bunch of weight early on, struggled to gain it back and had three rounds of IV hydration. They had originally prescribed something else but it did not work.. I tried to stop taking it several times throughout the pregnancy but could not even hold fluid without it. I did work on cutting down the frequency though I primarily saw a midwife though and not an OB
If it's just nausea, they likely won't prescribe it.
I had it my 1st and 2nd tri, but only after 3 trips to the ER for fluids in 3 weeks, and losing over 10lbs. They were still reluctant to give me anything, but it made a world of difference once they did.
I had pretty severe nausea but I never actually threw up. My Dr. prescribed me Zofran and it was a life saver! I don't think I would have gotten out of bed. The nausea was 24/7.

I had horrible 24/7 nausea and got percribed Zofran. Tried Reglan first but it didn't work. Took it every 6 hrs for 15 weeks. I go to Atlantic Women's Health
They may have you try other things first - I had to try Pherengan and Reglan first (neither worked) before they would prescribe Zofran. I ended up feeling better before I needed to fill the Rx but had the same insurance issues - they only fill like 12 at a time (for $25) so I would have needed a new Rx every 3-4 days which seemed crazy.
ETA: I'm not sure if they'll prescribe it unless you're throwing up to the point of losing weight. I had HG and was down something like 12 pounds at the point they prescribed the Zofran.
Definitely try ginger. It's great for nausea. I had bad morning sickness. My husband gave me a ginger based tea and it was like a miracle. Nausea went away immediately. Seriously.
Also, there's a point on your inner wrist that's good for getting rid of nausea. It's about an inch down from our wrist. Pulse your nail between the veins there. It's good for relieving nausea on the go. Good luck!

I know the feeling.
