I am making this dino cake for Griffin's party next weekend.

The cake needs to be very dense so it will hold together well, so boxed mixes won't do. I was originally going to make a carrot cake, but carrot just doesn't say "Happy Birthday" quite like a yummy white cake. I happen to love white cake, so that is just what I want. I looked on Allrecipes.com, but you just never know the consistency until you actually bake the cake. Does anyone have a recipe they want to share?

That's a big task. The body should be pretty easy (round cake in half). If you get frustrated, rice krispies are your friend. If you need more cake, a volcano cake would look perfect with that. It's also the easiest cake on the earth. Break up a chocolate cake in big pieces until it forms a hill. Get a can of cream cheese icing. Separate into 3 bowls, microwave until it is pourable. Make some orange, some red, some yellow. Instant lava volcano.
Good luck!!

I actually just got back from Hobby Lobby checking out their dinosaur cake pans just in case this project doesn't work out!
