Do you have any names that you consider to be bratty names?
I know that a name doesn't necessarily dictate someone's personality or how they are raised, but do certain names just make you think that it's pushing the child in that direction?
I ask this because I'm worried that one of our names (Connor) doesn't really feel like the strong but sweet/soft masculine name I was wanting... it seems like the kind of name that would be sweet on a little baby boy, but when I try to picture a pre-teen/teenager with that name I dunno...
Re: "Bratty" names
lol, ironically enough I know a BIG brat named Connor. He's also pretty awesome too though, and I love him...but he's a brat. ;-)
I think all kids have brat potential though, so don't worry about the name influencing them. For instance, kid I knew named Xavier i thought was going to turn out to be a punk...and he was a quiet little sweetheart.
Then on the other hand I know a Noah (which I thought was the most gentle name ever) and he's the biggest brat ever!
So...what's in a name?
Tiffany
Kevin (I think because of Home Alone)
Jeremy
Preston
Baron (and other similar pretentious-like names)
FWIW: I know an adult Connor, and he's a great guy.
i have no clue why- but the name Bianca popped in my head for this.
Nothing wrong with Connor!

I've never really had good experiences with boys named Josh. I just can't even consider it for our child.
I always worry about how the name will grow with the child so I pick names that may not neccesarily be cutesy when they are little but they are classic and will grow with the child. Michael, Alexander, Isaac, even George. Maybe I'm weird though.

Preston, definitely.
Alaina. Not Elena or Elaina, though. Probably cause I have a horrible experience with a kid named Alaina... plus I never liked that spelling anyway.
To an extent, Britney/Brittany.
But Connor is not a bratty name and I've met quite a few teen/adult Connors and it works for them!
haha, have you seen 10 Things I Hate About You? The "spoiled" character is Bianca, but she redeems herself.
I feel bad saying this, but Connor is a bratty name for me. It was the name of this neighbor boy who was/is totally obnoxious. It's also the name of DH's estranged stepbrother, who's estranged for a whole slew of reasons.
Jacob is another name like that. I've known a lot of Jacobs/Jakes, and not on of them has been pleasant. I'm hoping this generation of Jacobs is different, though; the ones I know have all been my age.
But Sadie is like, the ultimate bratty name for me. My mom had the greatest holy terror in her daycare named Sadie. She has to be the only child that young I've seen who intentionally sets out to harm or hurt another child for fun. At three, she stabbed another little girl with scissors. My mom says, "I don't know where the name Sadie came from, but I think it's short for Satan."
For me, it's Brooke...I don't know why.
Connor doesn't sound bratty to me though.
This is not a safe question to throw out to a teacher!
I could never name my kid Ryan, Brendan/Brandon, Zachary, or Dylan. They are all great names, but almost every single one I have ever met is a total brat.
Girls are a little better, but the big one around these parts is Sam/Samantha. Not usually a nice kid (again, beautiful name though).
Erica
Desiree (I haven't met 1 nice person with this name)
Gavin
Brandon
I will agree with this
Yes! Alex!
Not just for Alexandra in my case though ... Alexander, just Alex, etc. The boys named Alex have been the worst.
